DROP OFF / PICK UP MINISTRY RESOURCES & SCHEDULE

Drop Off Food

  • Sunnyside Ministry is swamped with 5 times the food requests as normal. During the hours for worship item pick-up listed below, staff will be in the drive through circle to receive donations of non-perishable food items which will be delivered to Sunnyside Ministry.

Pick Up Worship Items

Holy Week Readings books, hymnals, and Communion packets available via “Drive-Thru No Contact Pick-up” (Entrance to Fellowship Hall, Stay in your car)

  • Friday April 3rd        10 – 11 am
  • Monday April 6th 10 – 11 am

As we prepare for Holy Week services via phone and online, Fairview is providing these “stay at home” resources that can be picked up (see schedule above) with “no contact.”:

  1. Moravian Book of Worship – available to borrow for the duration of no on-site worship. They must be returned once we worship in person again.

March 28, 2020

Fairview Friends,

Our online 10 am worship Sunday March 29, 2020 will be followed by a Sunday School lesson by Bill Shields. What a treat!
pic B Sheilds SS Lesson 2020-03-28 151718.jpg
We have a different set-up this week due to the “Stay At Home” mandate. None of the worship will be presented onsite at church. It will be entirely via Zoom (and YouTube afterwards). Our team has worked hard to make this accessible. The Lent 1 liturgy is attached. The scripture texts are Psalm 130 and John 11:1-45. My message is “Out of the Depth’s” from Psalm 130. Instructions for accessing the service via Zoom are below and attached. It will be posted to our church website and FaceBook page by noon (If all goes well. Pray for us.).

We pray that it is a blessing to you!
With Hope,
Pastor Jeff

March 18, 2020

Fairview Family,

In these strange days, we are finding creative ways to Be Church. Our Joint Board met March 19th. We are committed to connecting in Christ even as we protect the safety of all.

Ongoing Ministry:

We will have online worship on Sundays at 10 am.* (See below)

We will have a trial run of the links and phone call-in Saturday March 21 at 2 pm

We are glad to offer our worship and Bible Study via telephone for the first time! *

We will continue our Tuesday 6 pm Bible Study (both in-person and phone/online).*

Our sanctuary will be now open for private prayer: Mon-Thu  10 am – 2 pm (New!)

(Ring the office door bell for entry)

Praying for one another and our leaders

Staying in touch via phone and online

We continue to worship through tithing – either by mail, dropping it off at the office during regular office hours, or using the online portal set up by the Moravian Ministries Foundation.

Contacting our staff as needed.

Cancellations (Check Fairview’s online calendar regularly)

All on-site business meetings are being cancelled or being moved to online/phone.

We can arrange zoom meetings (phone and/or audio/video) for any group meetings. (Please check with Pastor Jeff about the logistics of doing a “distance meeting” before scheduling one).

Cancellations for March:

Woman’s Fellowship Day of Prayer, CEC meeting, WF Circles, WF Exec. Board. Senior Friends

Cancellations for April:

Amazing Grace Clothing Closet (4/4/20), Egg Hunt (4/4/20)

Stay Tuned for plans for Psalm Sunday and Holy Week (April events will likely to be online & phone).

There will not be an on-site Lovefeast on Psalm Sunday.

We are considering alternate methods for Holy Week and Easter Sunday services.

Finally, I love the spirit of our Moravian Bishops: “Even as we are asked to keep our social distance from each other, we pray that God might draw us closer to us in Jesus Christ in whom all things can be made new.”

With Hope,

Jeff

March 17, 2020

Fairview Family,

“And may the Lord cause you to increase and overflow with love for one another and for everyone, just as we do for you.”
       – 1 Thessalonians 3:12
We are being the church – even at a distance!

Praying for one another. Calling to check in on one another. Asking if there is a need for shopping for groceries. Taking part in on-line worship and Bible Study. Dropping off your offering at church, or giving your church offering on-line. Being alert to “distance missions” opportunities.

These are all ways that you and I are BEING CHURCH to one another in these weird, disruptive days of the coronavirus.

  •  We will not have on-site worship, Sunday School, or other gatherings of more than 10 people through the end of March. However, we are working today and tomorrow to roll out online Fairview worship, education, and even some selected meetings online. Online worship (whether recorded or live) will start this Sunday! Stay tuned. We are following guidelines from the state of NC and the White House/CDC guidance (see attachment).
  •  The Fairview Day of Prayer on March 25th, Women’s fellowship Circles and Exec Board Meeting, Art Classes, CEC, and Choir practice are cancelled for the rest of March.
  •  Our staff will keep Fairview’s online calendar up to date. We will have the office open for normal work hours.
  •  At the same time, I am instructing Lewis and Patricia (and myself) to stay home when they have a cough, sore throat, or fever. (I had an excellent “check-up” at Hopkins on Monday. They say that my throat recovery is NOT a risk factor for the virus. My periodic cough is due to a scratchy throat, not any respiratory problem).
I doubt that I need to remind Fairview members that our congregation’s ministry expenses continue with only a small difference when activities are not happening on-site. Our boards are meeting tomorrow night to plan for the coming weeks and months. I encourage you to send in your offering by mail, drop it off at the office during regular office hours, or use the online portal set up by the Moravian Ministries Foundation.

With Hope,
Pastor Jeff
  • Notice:
  • Worship and all activities will be reviewed in light of the precautions needed to protect persons at risk for the coronavirus.  Please check here for updated announcements. We will look into opportunities for online activities. We regret the need to cancel when that happens. We are praying for all affected by the virus and for those in decision-making positions.

Welcome!

We’re so glad you’ve taken this first step in learning about our church.  While this website can never give you the full picture of Fairview Moravian Church we want to give you a glimpse of the amazing things God is doing in our community.

It is our desire that when you visit, you sense a reverent spirit and experience sincere friendliness among us.  We gather to worship God as a family and to express to Him our love, our thanks and our devotion.

We invite you to be our guest as we worship the Lord together!  We pray that you will find that Fairview Moravian Church is here to encourage you in your walk with Jesus Christ.  We look forward to getting to know you!
